About Impact

Impact has spent years on bolted steel tanks across New Zealand, working for the country's leading tank suppliers and directly for the people who own the tanks.

Who we are

Few crews see this many tanks in a year

Bolted steel tanks are the whole of what we do. Not tanks among other things, and not civil work with a tank at the end of it. Every crew we put on a site has done this before.

A good share of the work is remedial: tanks built by others that need putting right. Knowing precisely where an install goes wrong is why ours hold. Straight panels, properly seated seals, and a site left clean.

We are brand agnostic by design. Whoever supplied your tank, we will build it, fix it, service it or take it down, and we hold no allegiance that would stop us telling you what is actually wrong with it.

Where we work

Christchurch based, both islands worked

Several crews run in parallel, which is what makes a job in Southland and a job well north of it possible in the same month. Location has never been the thing that decides whether we take on a tank.

How a job runs

Four steps, whatever the job is

A new build, a leak and a teardown are different work. They are not different processes.

  1. 01

    Talk it through

Tell us about the tank and what is going on with it. You get a straight answer on whether we can help, from the person who will organise the crew rather than from a sales layer in between.

  2. 02

    A crew goes out

Christchurch based, working both islands. Which crew and how soon depends on where you are and what else is running, and we will tell you that before you commit to anything.

  3. 03

    The work gets done

New build, repair, service or takedown, it runs the same way. Straight panels, properly seated seals, and a site left clean.

  4. 04

    We are still here after

The same business answers the phone a year later. Servicing and repairs never depended on us having built the tank in the first place, so there is nothing awkward about calling us about one we did not.

Pending from Charles: confirm these four steps, and whether anything is promised at each one. The earlier draft of this promised a fixed price, a date and a watertight test on handover. None of those are confirmed and none are on the page.
Standards and safety

What we can state, and what we cannot yet

This section is deliberately short. Everything on the right is still being confirmed, and none of it goes on the page until it is.

Confirmed

  • Bolted steel tanks only. No welded tank work, and no welding on site.
  • Any brand of bolted tank, whoever supplied or erected it.
  • Confined space work is a routine part of servicing and deconstruction.
  • Charles de Beer is the director, and he answers the phone himself.
  • Christchurch base, crews working the whole country.

Pending from Charles

None of this is confirmed yet
  • Years trading, and years in the trade
  • How many crews, and how many people
  • Certifications and the standards we build to
  • H&S prequalifications, and confined space tickets
  • Insurance cover
  • Whether the distributors can be named
  • A real client testimonial
